Royal Travels: Scotland

I am so sorry it has been so long since I have posted. But, I have been on a very royal vacation to Scotland, which is what this post is all about.

I started out my trip in Edinburgh, Scotland. Edinburgh has tons of royal history. It has the Royal Mile, which is the mile long road between Edinburgh Castle, and Palace at Holyroodhouse, which the Queen was in residence at for part of my stay in Scotland.

Edinburgh Castle
Since Palace at Holyroodhouse was in residence, I went to Edinburgh Castle first. Edinburgh Castle was built on volcanic rock in the 12th century, and is older than Palace at Holyroodhouse. It was home to the Scottish kings and queens. The rock face, made from volcanic rocks was supposed to be impossible to climb, and helpful during war, unfortunately, the rock face is not impossible to climb, but takes a lot of skill.

At Edinburgh Castle, you can see the Scottish Crown Jewels, which are older than the English Crown Jewels due to the fact that the originals were destroyed.

The Palace at Holyroodhouse, also referred to as just "Holyrood" was the home of Queen Mary of Scots, and is the place of the murder of David Rizzio, Queen Mary of Scots friend and the man people suspected she was in love with. He was murdered in front of her by her husband.

Holyrood is now where Queen Elizabeth II stays when she visits Edinburgh, as well as where she hosts her annual garden party and knights people in Scotland.

The Royal Yacht Britannia was Queen Elizabeth II and her families private yacht. It was where the royals went on holiday, and many royal couples have spent their honeymoons on the yacht, including Princess Diana and Prince Charles. Now decommissioned, it is open to the public. On the walls hang family photos, and you can see into the royal's and crew's quarters.

Finally, I saw the Castle of Mey, which is as far north as you can go in Scotland. It was the castle that the mourning Queen Mother bought after she lost her husband. The Queen Mother would visit it during the fall and invite family and friends. It was her personal home and a place she could go to escape the public eye. For people who watch The Crown, this is the castle she buys in the episode "Pride and Joy". But, they filmed the episode at a castle in Aberdeen. Also, the Queen Mother gave Princess Margaret a bedroom at the Castle of Mey, but Princess Margaret never slept in it. Even after the Queen Mother's death, Prince Charles made a yearly visit to the Castle of Mey.

So, that was my royal trip to Scotland. I can't wait to post more royal news soon!

Royal Corgi Information

Queen Elizabeth II is not only in love with corgis! If you thought that Queen Elizabeth strictly only owns corgis, you are wrong. But, corgis are the dog of the royal monarchy. In fact, three of her corgis had a part of the opening ceremony at the London Olympics back in 2012. Three other cool facts to know about the Queen's corgis are: Her love of corgis began as a child when her dad, George VI bought the family a corgi named Dookie. Most of her corgis common ancestor is Susan, who was the Queen's eighteenth birthday present.  Susan the corgi came with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip on their honeymoon. But the Queen does not limit herself to one breed of dogs! She has also owned labradors, a golden retriever, a cocker spaniel , and a shih tzu. The Queen has also been known to breed dorgis, which are a dachshund corgi mix which sound so cute! I got my information from the book Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family

The Royal Ascot 2019

Every summer, members of the British royal family attend the famous Royal Ascot, which is a horse race. This year, some of the members of the royal family that went included the Queen, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Princess Anne, and Zara Tindall. Also, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands were in attendance. Notably absent were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who were most likely at home with their a little more than a month old son Archie. In terms of style, the Queen opted for her usual monochromatic look with a blue coat and hat. The Duchess of Cambridge also donned a pleated pale blue dress and fascinator of the same shade to match. Princess Beatrice also wore an all pale blue attire with a wide brimmed blue hat with pink, blue, and yellow tassels. Zara Tindall also joined in the blue fascinator trend, pairing her fascinator with a black dress with a large flowered pattern. Princess Eugenie kept herself within the blue r

The Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle!

First things first, Meghan's dress was gorgeous. It was simple, elegant, and stunning. The second thing is, the fasinators were amazing! But, before I get into that, let's start at the beginning. This is how I viewed the wedding. 4:00 am - Turned on the television. At this point, people had not started to arrive yet, and it was mainly reporters speculating about Meghan's dress. 4:30 to 5:00 am - People started to come, mainly aristocrats, Hollywood stars, and friends of Harry and Meghan, including Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams, and Prince Harry's ex Chelsy Davy. Reporters also interviewed people who had charities that Harry and Meghan supported. Sometime after that, (I lost track of the time,) some more celebrities and aristocrats came, including the Middletons, the Beckhams and the Clooneys, as well as some more actresses. Then, the royal family began to arrive. The first royal that I saw was Zara Tindall, who is  pregnant with her second child, who is due v
