Royal Corgi Information

Queen Elizabeth II is not only in love with corgis! If you thought that Queen Elizabeth strictly only owns corgis, you are wrong. But, corgis are the dog of the royal monarchy. In fact, three of her corgis had a part of the opening ceremony at the London Olympics back in 2012. Three other cool facts to know about the Queen's corgis are: Her love of corgis began as a child when her dad, George VI bought the family a corgi named Dookie. Most of her corgis common ancestor is Susan, who was the Queen's eighteenth birthday present.  Susan the corgi came with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip on their honeymoon. But the Queen does not limit herself to one breed of dogs! She has also owned labradors, a golden retriever, a cocker spaniel , and a shih tzu. The Queen has also been known to breed dorgis, which are a dachshund corgi mix which sound so cute! I got my information from the book Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family

Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the Royal Family

Buffy the Vampire Slayer isn't the only famous Buffy in the world. Except you know this royal Buffy by a more popular different name. The Queen Mum! Queen Elizabeth, the mother of Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Consort to George VI. She was born into an aristocratic family and known by her family growing up as Buffy at home. Even though Elizabeth did not become a vampire slayer, she did become the Queen Consort of England which is just another role just as hard as slaying vampires. This is a fun piece of information that combines Buffy the Vampire Slayer and royals. (I am only in the middle of season 6 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so no spoilers please!)   Above: Buffy Summers Below: The Queen Mum The image of Buffy Summers is a screenshot taken by me from the episode Living Conditions The image of Buffy, the Queen Mother is by an unknown author and taken from Wikimedia Commons. I got my information from pg. 110 of Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family

Did You Know This About Queen Mary of Teck!

Here is a fact that will surprise you about Queen Mary of Teck, the Queen Consort to King George V. George V was actually not born to be king. He expected to that his brother, Prince Albert Victor would be King. But then, his brother's death, changed everything. Not only was he now next in line for the crown, but he had also inherited his brother's would-be-wife, Mary of Teck. Even though the marriage was forced, they were a very devoted couple who supported each other. Did you know that?   This image is by an unknown person on May 24, 1913.  I got my information from page 78 of Queen Elizabeth II  and the Royal Family

The Swedish Baby

We have been waiting to find out what Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia would name their baby. And yesterday the name was announced to be... Prince Gabriel! The name was announced in a cabinet meeting yesterday. Prince Gabriel is now 6th in line for throne. The name Gabriel is a very good name and one that I really like. Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip have chosen a wonderful name and congratulations to them. Congratulations to Prince Alexander, who is now a big brother. Wow, is it just me or has their been a ton of royal baby news? Information from: People Magazine

Congratulations William and Kate!

Congratulations Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge! Today, the palace confirmed that Princess Kate and Prince William are expecting their third child! Yay! Princess Kate suffers from a morning sickness called Hyperemesis Gravidarum, and since she had to cancel all of her meetings, the palace announced that she was pregnent. Princess Kate is only a few weeks pregnant though, and is being cared for at Kensington Palace. A big thing we are all dying to know is what they baby's name will be! William and Kate have clearly been sticking to giving their children strong traditional names. In the comments bar, tell us what names you think will be a strong candidate, for me, if it's a boy I think they might name him Louis, after Louis Mountbatten, who was very close to both Prince Philip and Prince Charles. Even though Louis is one of Prince George's middle names, the family is seen commonly reusing names on multiple members of the family. If it's a girl, I

See This: The Crown vs Real Life Portrayal of Philip's Aunt

Edwina Mountbatten was the wife of Louis Mountbatten, who was Prince Philip's uncle. Naturally, Edwina and her husband were at his wedding. Here is an image of Edwina at the wedding.    As you can see, Edwina is the woman on the right with the big feathers coming out of her hair. Now the makers of the Netflix Original, The Crown, made sure that all the details for the scene of Queen Elizabeth (then Princess Elizabeth) and Prince Philip's wedding to be as accurate as possible. Here is The Crown's portrayal of Edwina Mountbatten: Now, you can see Edwina in The Crown portrayal looks practically identical to the real life Edwina Mountbatten, with just a few minor tweaks to the outfit. For instance, real life Edwina had shorter sleeves with longer gloves and The Crown Edwina has long sleeves and gloves. But overall, it's amazing work! Now, in The Crown portrayal image, look three seats to the left of Edwina, to the woman dressed like a nun. That is Princess Ali

Very Happy News

Yesterday marked the sad occasion of the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana's death but it also marked a happier occasion for the Swedish Royal Family. Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia announced that they had welcomed their second child at August 31st at 11:24 a.m., at Danderyd Hospital. The baby is healthy and Princess Sofia is good too. Congratulations to Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia. I will keep you updated on what the baby's name is!  I have gotten my information from People Magazine.
