Royal Wedding Traditions

Royals love tradition, and royal weddings are the perfect place to see some of their traditions. With two royal weddings on the way, I thought it would be interesting to share some royal wedding tradition with you, and tell you which traditions so far we know Meghan Markle and Prince Harry plan not to do, and if Princess Eugenie has a traditional wedding, what she could do. My personal favorite cake flavor is chocolate. But, the British Royal Family's traditional wedding cake flavor is.... Fruit Cake! Yes, it is traditional to serve fruit cake at a royal wedding. Some royals who have followed this tradition are: Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (William and Kate). But, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have opted for a different flavor of cake. Banana Cake. Apparently, according to  People Magazine, Prince Harry loves bananas. Princess Eugenie, has not released anything about her wedding c

Did You Notice This In the Engagement Pictures?

Duchess Catherine isn't the only royal that re-wears outfits. If you have read gazillions of royal news articles like me, you will notice that the dress that Princess Eugenie is wearing in her engagement photographs has been worn by her before. In a Harper's Bazaar article and photoshoot. To see the two images, which I can assure you, she is wearing the same dress, click on the links below. I must admit,   I was mind blown when I discovered this! Harper's Bazaar Engagement      Image by: Carfax2

Princess Eugenie is Engaged!!!

It looks like Prince Harry isn't the only member of the British Royal Family to be engaged! Princess Eugenie, the second daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson is engaged to long term boyfriend Jack Brooksbank. The wedding will be held at the same place as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, St George's Chapel, which is at Windsor Castle, this fall. The Queen and Prince Philip has said "very pleased and wish the couple all the best". Now, here is the ring news. Her ring has a beautiful pink jewel in the center called a padparadscha sapphire. Which is in fact, extremely rare. It is surrounded by diamonds. Here is what a padparadscha sapphire looks like:   I am so happy for Princess Eugenie and cannot wait for the wedding! The Queen Didn't Know This?

In the Smithsonian documentary about Queen Elizabeth II, which features the Queen, herself, we find out where the royal family hid the crown jewels during World War II. During the war, Queen Elizabeth, then Princess Elizabeth, and her sister Princess Margaret, lived at Windsor Castle with their parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. What the then Princess Elizabeth did not know was that the crown jewels were hidden right beneath her feet. The documentary shows that in some part of the castle, a floorboard opens up to reveal a trapdoor, which when opened reveals a ladder that takes you deep underneath the castle into an underground room, which was where they hid the crown jewels. What they also did was pop out precious gems and hide them in a cookie tin. The Queen had not been told nor aware of this, and seemed greatly surprised that the crown jewels had in fact been at Windsor Castle. But, doesn't it make you wonder what else is hidden in Windsor Castle, or any other royal re

A Review of the Queen's Coronation Documentry

Last night, Smithsonian aired a documentary about Queen Elizabeth II coronation. Overall, it was quite a good documentary with plenty of good, valuable information about both the Queen and her father's coronation. But, what I enjoyed most was the Queen's comments and memories that she talks about in her interview. The Queen had quite the personality and answered all of the questions with not only an honest answer, but an honest opinion in her tone too. It is a must watch for any fan of Queen Elizabeth and the royal family, as well as anyone interested in the rituals done at a coronation. One of my favorite Queen Elizabeth moments in the whole program was when the interviewer asks if the Queen can have the crown moved closer to her. You can see a pair of white gloved hands, obviously the person in charge of the crown jewels, picks it up and starts to hand it to her. But, the Queen, snatches it right out of their hands. You go Queen Elizabeth! An interesting fact that I learned i

Meghan Markle's Social Media

If you were planning on following Meghan Markle on social media, sorry, but Meghan Markle took down all her social media accounts yesterday. While the royal family does have official accounts like @KensingtonRoyal or @ClarenceHouse, the royals do not have personal social media accounts. Since, Meghan Markle is marrying Prince Harry, she too, had to take down her profiles. A few months ago, she also took down her lifestyle website The Tig. All that remains of The Tig is her farewell post, which you can view  here . Keep you posted! -Alverdine Image by Ibrahim.ID

Meghan Markle's Dogs

Meghan Markle will be just fine marrying into the dog loving royal family. Meghan Markle has two dogs herself, Guy and Bogart. But unfortunately tragedy has struck both dogs. Guy, has broken two legs, while Bogart must be given away to a friend. I hope that Guy's legs get better and that Bogart enjoys his new home! I also hope that Guy will enjoy living in England and enjoy the company of the Queen's corgis! To see a picture of Meghan with Guy and Bogart, click here .   Image by D. Myles Cullen

Royals and ... Barbie?

Royals are becoming a huge part in popular culture, especially the British Royal Family. Ever since Queen Elizabeth became Queen, the royal family has been modernizing itself to keep up with the ever changing world. But who knew that there are royal Barbies? Well, if you did, I didn't until recently when I took a trip to Montreal, Canada. Canada, is part of the Commonwealth, and the royals do make frequent visits to Canada. William and Kate went to Canada in 2016. But, in Montreal, Canada, you can find an amazing thing, the world's largest permanent Barbie doll expo. In this exhibit, you can find Barbie dolls of three famous royals. The first famous royals on display are: Prince William and Princess Kate! Yes, while this is not the most accurate representation of the beloved Princess Kate, it is still really gorgeous and the dress is quite accurate to her real wedding dress. As for Prince William, the outfit is super close to the real one. Overall, extremely spectacular
