British Royal Family Movie Night

Royal movies are great movies! Here are some royal family movies that I have seen and I think are must sees for anyone who is obsessed with the British Royal Family.

1. The Kings Speech
This movie is about how King George VI works with speech therapist Lionel to help him with his stammer. At the same time, World War II is going on and the country needs to hear a speech from their king. This movie features Colin Firth as King George VI and Helena Bonham Carter and the Queen Mum. Geoffrey Rush portrays Lionel.

2. The Queen
This amazing royal movie follows the aftermath of the death of Princess Diana. The Queen and Prime Minister Tony Blair are in an argument about how the royal family should publicly respond to the situation. This movie features Helen Mirren as the Queen and plays the role amazingly.

3. Elizabeth at 90: A Family Portrait
This movie, while a documentary paints a beautiful portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Narrated by her son Prince Charles, this documentary shows amazing footage along with interviews with family members such as Princess Anne, Lady Sarah Chatto, Queen Margrethe, Prince William and Harry, and many other cousins.

4. Prince Philip: The Plot to Make a King
This documentary explains how Prince Philip was asserted into Princess Elizabeth's eye by his uncle Louis Mountbatten. This documentary features some of Prince Philip's cousins and reviews the Prince's heritage and early life.

5. The Crown
Of course this is a must see! This Netflix Original must see for any royal fan. It gives a realistic portrayal of the royal family and Queen Elizabeth II. This stars Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth, Matt Smith as Prince Philip, and Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret.

    I hear very good things about Wolf Hall as well. It's a miniseries from a few years ago.

A Clarifying Answer to a Frequently Asked Question

A frequently asked question about Meghan Markle is: "Will Meghan Markle be Princess Meghan?" The answer is no. Meghan Markle will not be a Princess, just like Princess Kate. Now wait, you are probably thinking: "But, isn't Princess Kate a princess?" The answer to this is simple. While the media calls Catherine Middleton "Princess Kate" and I refer to her as Princess Kate, it is not her real title. Princess Kate's (or should I say, Catherine Middleton's) royal title given to her is Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.
