Last night, Smithsonian aired a documentary about Queen Elizabeth II coronation. Overall, it was quite a good documentary with plenty of good, valuable information about both the Queen and her father's coronation. But, what I enjoyed most was the Queen's comments and memories that she talks about in her interview. The Queen had quite the personality and answered all of the questions with not only an honest answer, but an honest opinion in her tone too. It is a must watch for any fan of Queen Elizabeth and the royal family, as well as anyone interested in the rituals done at a coronation. One of my favorite Queen Elizabeth moments in the whole program was when the interviewer asks if the Queen can have the crown moved closer to her. You can see a pair of white gloved hands, obviously the person in charge of the crown jewels, picks it up and starts to hand it to her. But, the Queen, snatches it right out of their hands. You go Queen Elizabeth! An interesting fact that I learned is that the Queen has not seen Saint Edward's Crown, one of the crown's that she wore at her coronation, since her coronation. The crown that you commonly see her wearing is the Imperial State Crown. Also, if you were wondering, Scotland's crown jewels are older than England's because the original English crown jewels were destroyed in the civil war and remade during the Restoration, when the monarchy was restored to Britain. Hopefully, the documentary will air again on television soon, and congratulations to Queen Elizabeth for talking about her coronation publicly for the first time!

I love how feisty she is. Personality goals.
ReplyDeleteI liked how sentimental she was when she touched her diamond pin and said it was the first time it was reunited with the diamond in the crown
