Queen Elizabeth II is not only in love with corgis! If you thought that Queen Elizabeth strictly only owns corgis, you are wrong. But, corgis are the dog of the royal monarchy. In fact, three of her corgis had a part of the opening ceremony at the London Olympics back in 2012. Three other cool facts to know about the Queen's corgis are: Her love of corgis began as a child when her dad, George VI bought the family a corgi named Dookie. Most of her corgis common ancestor is Susan, who was the Queen's eighteenth birthday present. Susan the corgi came with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip on their honeymoon. But the Queen does not limit herself to one breed of dogs! She has also owned labradors, a golden retriever, a cocker spaniel , and a shih tzu. The Queen has also been known to breed dorgis, which are a dachshund corgi mix which sound so cute! I got my information from the book Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family
I remember turning on the tv and expecting to see SNL on, and instead there was a live news report. They were showing an aerial shot of a fairly non-descript road in a city that was filled with emergency vehicles -- I guess they were in a helicopter. Then they said that Princess Diana had died in a car crash and I was just shocked.
ReplyDeleteI remember my roommate telling me the news, and I froze and said, "That's not funny." The news was so unbelievable that I thought she was joking even though she was crying as she talked about it. My roommates were from England. We stayed up the night before the funeral because the footage was airing early in the morning in the US. I remember sitting on the floor, right in front of the television.
ReplyDeleteI think I was working in a restaurant and saw it on one of the TVs and everyone started talking about it. I remember not really being too invested in it, only because I was a teenager and didn't really pay attention to her or even grasp her significance. I didn't understand why people were making such a fuss over it. Famous people die all the time was I guess how I thought back then.
ReplyDeleteI remember being in a hotel with my parents and it came on the news.
